EAST SHIPYARD

This “Aging in Place” project began with the goal of updating the bathroom and kitchen finishes. The purpose was twofold: both for aesthetic purposes and to create a user friendly environment as the homeowners grow older. 

The design and the finishes were carefully examined with both of these needs in mind. In the Master Bathroom, grab bars which blend in with the plumbing fixtures were installed in the bathtub, shower, and toilet area. In the shower, the size was increased and a zero threshold was installed for potential use with a wheelchair. 

The kitchen layout was changed and all of the finishes were updated. As part of the layout change, an island was also added while maintaining adequate aisle clearances. These will ensure that the home will look great for years to come. In addition, this house will continue to function well for the owners, even if their physical needs change.
